Bethany
Growing up with theatre and dance, Bethany Summersizzle frequently spoke of wanting to perform circus arts, but received mostly laughter from those she shared her dream with. Years later, Austin, Texas is where it happened! She started aerial training at Blue Lapis Light in February 2010 and performed her first aerial silk performance at CircX Vortex at The Vortex four months later.
That summer, she became one of Sky Candy’s first students. Eager to broaden her aerial vocabulary, she started taking various classes in silk, lyra, trapeze, rope, and pole from Sky Candy teachers. Soon after, she became one of Sky Candy’s Resident Performers. A few credits include several CircX Vortex circuses, Fool’s Follies, E.A.S.T., a bat in The Vortex Theatre’s production of AIR, New Years Eve Circus at Auditorium Shores, and a “Red Shoes girl” in both runs of Sky Candy’s production of The Red Shoes. Non-aerial related, she performed in CATS, the musical at Vive les Arts. She is a pin-up model and up-in-coming burlesque performer, who performed her first burlesque/aerial lyra act at Big Top Burlesque and Bake Sale at Elysium, September 2011.
Bethany jumps at any opportunity to perform burlesque/combine it with aerials, and loves to shake her groove thang (especially if covered in sequins and tassels!)
Her inspirations include Mae West and Harry Houdini. They are a reminder that nothing is impossible!
