Having zero background in dance, gymnastics or much of anything involving body awareness or grace, Winnie Hsia dove into the world of aerial arts in early 2009. After a frustrating seven weeks of being unable to climb a silk, Winnie approached the apparatus and found herself able to ascend!  The magic of that moment has never left her.

She started performing in Austin venues in late 2009 and has done private and public performances at venues including the Austin Music Hall, ACL Live Theatre at the W, The VORTEX, The East Austin Studio Tour and more.  In 2010, she had the privilege of producing and performing in Sky Candy’s very first full-length theatrical adaptation, THE RED SHOES.

Winnie’s experience of creativity, discovery and awareness that has come from the aerial arts has been unparalleled in her life and is grateful for discovering this art form. In July 2010, she, Andy Agne and Chelsea Laumen started Sky Candy, an aerial arts collective whose goal it is to develop and foster an interest in the aerial arts to the greater Austin community. Winnie wants you to know that if she can get fly – you can too!

She teaches Intro to Aerial Skills and Beginner Hammock.
